I woke up at 4 a.m. yesterday, got dressed, and hopped on a bus to Calgary for a job interview. It was an extremely cold morning and the bus seats were quite hard on my neck, but I was happy that the person sitting next to me was my wife.
When we finally arrived in downtown Calgary, I had a headache, and both my wife and I were sleepy. Nonetheless, it was good to be somewhere new. I thought that the buildings and restaurants were quite nice and interesting compared to my city. At that time, I said to my wife "Wow! It might be cool to live here." Then we tried to find the building where my interview was. Even though I had the address, it was difficult to find, and we ended up asking someone for directions. It was funny because she pointed behind us and said "That big green building right behind you is the TCPS! Just go straight that way!" I thought "TCPS! What's that?" At that moment, I remembered someone told me that Calgarians like to use acronyms (an example of an acronym is T.A.=teaching assistant) instead of the full name of a place. Anyway, we found the Trans-Canada Tower, which was the location of my interview.
I won't mention all the details of my trip to Calgary, but I will say what was good and what was bad about our journey
Good:
-Amazing skyscrapers
-friendly people
-met some buskers in a pedway, who were also friendly
-we found a nice Thai restaurant and our server was really kind. The food was good, too.
-the buildings were not too far from each other, so we could walk to every place
-the mall (I think it was called TD Place) was extremely nice, and had a food court on the top floor
-MY WIFE CAME WITH ME
Bad:
-SOOOO cold outside and so warm inside the buildings
-complicated to find a place with an address
-was in pain from carrying my heavy bad (my stupid mistake to pack so many things)
-return trip was much longer because we stopped in Red Deer
I'll say more about it later. For now, it's time to rest and re-charge for Monday.
