Yes! I hate that word sometimes. It's gotten me into a pickle on more than one occasion. But saying no just makes us wonder "What if...?" I don't want to live all my life with what ifs. I need some "So that's what it's like"s! Yes, this is very weird punctuation, but so what? I tried it. See how it goes, or else we'll never know. We as in all of us. Of course we need discretion. Sometimes saying no is the best thing. Certainly not always, though.
I sit here asking myself if I should try to go out into the halls and talk to some people, see what's up. But then the bell for next period rings and I've missed my chance. Think before you act, but don't always think. Not too much.
Moving to another country? Please think about it deeply. Talking to a classmate/ co-worker who you'd like to get to know? Don't think about that too much. You'll miss the chance and tomorrow will look the same. Talk to them now and the possibility of developing a friendship more the next day goes way up.
Is there a risk to saying yes? A risk to saying yes to ourselves, to do the things we don't usually do? Of course. We could get shot down. We could get hurt. But sometimes we hurt ourselves more by not moving, by not doing anything. Take the example of a bodybuilder who pulled his back when he was just picking up a small TV. He wasn't doing much, just a little rearranging in the living room. But when he was training, pushing those pounds, he was fine. So warm up first, then do what you do. Do it with passion. Prepare for it, then do it. If you're not prepared, you may pull something. Get warmed up and get psyched beforehand, focus on the goal, and who knows what you can accomplish.
I've heard it said many times that Thomas Edison didn't ever feel he failed. He successfully found ways that didn't work. As a result, he could eliminate those options or work toward a more functional product. What's your product? How many times have you tried? Why did you stop? Did you think you failed or that it was impossible? You successfully found a way that didn't work. Now it's time to try it differently. So stop being down on yourself and get back to it. Would you jump to the chance to find something new? A solution to that problem. Maybe you think you're the only one suffering from it. Maybe you're not and if you find the answer, you can help everyone else fighting that same battle. You can be the answer if you're not too afraid to fail that one more time, to get that much closer to the cure.
Find your courage because people need you. You need you. Don't fade into yourself. Don't disappear. Come back. Come back to life. In your mind. In your soul. In your body. Wake up! Find your medicine. Then BE THE MEDICINE. I'm not talking about a chemical or a drug. I'm talking about a state of mentality, a way of looking at life, a passionate perspective. Clouds move. Rainbows appear. Stars light up. The Northern Lights dance across the sky. And then everyone stops in awe and tries to capture the moment. So much is possible. It's your turn to dance. You don't need the recognition; you need to see what you're capable of. All of creation has something to teach us, including YOU.
